Motivating Mom: Jessica Easter
Month of July: Motivating Mom
Each month we are celebrating a member of our FIT4MOM Fairfield County Village for her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and dedication to the FIT4MOM program.
Jessica is one of those "can do anything moms"! She is a mom of three and still found time to be a playgroup captain, plan amazing playgroups, plan weekly themes, and juggle all her kids schedules! I always knew it was going to be an awesome class when Jessica was there with her kids. Lucas was definitely one of the biggest fans of my "to the moon" sprints and duck quacks! I will miss having the Easter Clan in my classes and look forward to hopefully seeing them on Sunday classes soon!! She's an amazing mom, friend, teacher and all around person! - Shana, Instructor
Jessica is such a positive mom and always welcoming. She was a wonderful play group captain and had such creative ideas and crafts for the kids to do. There was never a time I did not see Jessica smiling, encouraging others, and being a great role model for her kids. It's always a pleasure to have Jessica and her kid in class. - Laura, Instructor
Even if I only met Jessica a few times in classes, I was always impressed how she handled her kids - sometimes all three of them at the same time! Still being busy handing out toys, sacks or whatever was needed, she finds the time to greet, smile and chat.
I was so happy when Jessica took over being Playgroup Captain - and I got a bunch of new ideas for songs, exercise topics and fun after class!
Going back to work will be a new chapter again :-) And I wish you all the best in finding the right balance for yourself, your kids and family and your work - with some time for workouts, play and chats as well! - Nina, Instructor
Jessica is amazing, she shows up to class with a great attitude and great take on life - she takes everything in her stride. Loved having Jessica as a playgroup captain - her creativity, organizing, ideas and themes are to be marveled at - love having Jessica in our village! - Hana, Instructor
Jessica is one of those moms who just makes everyone smile whenever she comes to class. As I struggle with one little guy and wonder how I can ever handle 2 or more, she comes into class and just handles everything in stride and like a pro. Whether she’s slipping into class with 1 little one amongst school drop offs and pick ups, or coming with all 3 - she just makes everything seem so manageable. She gives hope and confidence to other, newer mamas while just simply being an awesome mama. She’s always been welcoming and her playgroups were always so thoughtful and creative! We love having her in our Village! - Lauren, Instructor
Jessica is an inspiration to me every time i see her. She always has a smile on her face and is determined to make the best out of everyday. She had always been a person for me to bounce ideas off of when i am having parenting troubles. She is always the first to welcome new moms to our groups and form relationships despite the craziness with her personal life. I am so grateful to have met jessica through stroller Strides for her friendship and advice. - Rachel, Instructor
I’ll always remember Jessica’s first class with me and how she told me she loved a challenge. Jessica takes challenges head on, whether in motherhood or fitness. I’ve known her with one child, then 2, and now three and she has amazing way of managing it all. She’s one of my main go-to moms for mom advice, education advice, or just a supportive, friendly ear. I’ve been so impressed with how far she’s progressed in such a short time with her running in both distance and pace- it’s really amazing. Jess is an all around motivating mom and I’m so lucky to have met her through Fit4Mom! - Elysa, Instructor
1) Who are the members of your family?
My family is my husband Nate, Arya - five and a half, Lucas - three and a half, Olivia nineteen months! and our beloved pup Sierra who is 6
2) What is/was your career?
I am a preschool special education teacher in a local school district.
3) How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Fairfield County, and what has it done for you?
I took my first class when Arya was about four months old.- so I guess we have been members for about 5 years. When I started, we were new to the area with no family or friends close by. After my first class I was hooked - awe struck by the veteran moms who welcomed me so warmly and felt so encouraged to keep coming back. Arya and I made our first friends in CT in class! I kept coming back to class on the weekends, whenever I had a school break, and with each maternity leave. Fit4Mom has always been my go-to activity and a great way to start our days.
4) What is your favorite class exercise?
Squat - jumps, pile, sumo - you name it make my legs burn
Anything to knock me off my balance and find it again
And a good stroller run
5) What keeps you coming back to Stroller Strides?
Friendship - my kiddos have special friends from classes and I am lucky enough to have been brough
Themes - what better way to celebrate a holiday?!
Health - I feel so much stronger physically and emotionally after a good class
6) What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
Does everything count?! Seriously every day there is something new ... either to celebrate or cry about and it all happens so quickly. Biggest surprise my new mental skills for keeping running lists but not being able to remember what I had for breakfast
7) What are your 3 favorite things?
long run with friends especially when the temp is below freezing; extra hot coffee and grilled cheese but not together; summer campfires deep in the woods
8) What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
Again, can I say everything? Not all the days are glorious but I think its important to find something to be proud of often. It's especially important for our kids to see our successes no matter how small. Today it was remembering to leaving the house with shoes for everyone and flying solo at bedtime with all the kids asleep in under an hour.
9) What advice would you give a new mother?
Don't be too hard on yourself - most grown ups are able to go potty, sleep through the night, eat a balanced meal, etc. - and we just have to have a little faith that someday we will get our babies there too :)
The first 12 weeks are a truly the hardest.
Raising a 'big' family is worth it
10) Anything you'd like to share about yourself?
I have a personal mantra that has gotten me through these first few years of motherhood - - when in doubt, stride it out
Thank you Jessica for being a part of our village!
